The waiting......

Ah the anticipation..........

It is said that a dish is all the better for the waiting...... something I am hoping is true as I imagine all the fun and frolics my partners in crime are indulging in overseas whilst I remain waiting for my elective to begin in waterlogged Blighty. Images of Niger, Thailand, Ghana and Vanuatu flick infront of my eyes juxtapositioned against the sights of Tewkesbury, Gloucester, Oxford and Yorkshire under 3 feet of sewage riddled flood water accessorised with floating swans curiously peering through the ground floor windows of government offices half a mile from the nearest river. Bizarre, but hey the English summer is well known for it's unpredictable nature! Even the weather appears to be operating some kind of jihad.

Still, it does afford me the benefit of far more time than is actually necessary to arrange, rearrange and buy still more unnecessary items for my luggage and sojourn in Belize. I am at present pontificating over the exact specifications of a hat necessary for the tropics. Does one obtain one with the highest sunblockage, the best waterproofing (bearing in mind that Belize during the 'wet' season is one of the wettest places on the planet), one that 'breathes' or just abandon logic to the winds and just buy one made of straw when I get there? Lucky that the weather in England is so predictable and that I don't have to consider my packing for this part of the elective (not!).

I have decided against flipflops as my main choice of footwear abroad following a small shopping trip to Knightsbridge lazily flipflopping around Harrods and Harvey Nicks examining the last of the summer sale detritus and returning to surburbia sans intact skin between my toes (ouch)...back to the tevas I think.
